Film: Lay the Favorite

This surely won't be getting laid by me anytime soon. Why? Because it's nowhere near my favorite. The movie takes some weird turns and is mildly entertaining. However, I would not think of this as a pure comedy - more along the lines of one of those semi funny drama flicks.

Film: Argo

If you want to see if this was truthful or not, go somewhere else. All I can say is that it was very entertaining. I never knew what this movie was about - so glad to not watch TV and previews. Overall, the movie was well acted and moved quickly.

Watching this makes me feel like I need to watch Miracle. The greatest game ever!

Film: Skyfall

Hmmm... Can't really tell how the movie was because we failed to finish it. Maybe it was both of us were extremely tired when we were watching it, but it just appeared to drag on and wasn't going anywhere. Plus we'd like someone else as 007, he's a good actor but just not Bond.

Film: Zero Dark Thirty

At 2100 hours on March 24, 2013 we began watching this movie. My first thoughts were that I liked it. However, I did not like the torture scenes... Hollywood kept the thing interesting, but did Hollywood keep the thing accurate? Torture was used on many (and likely is still used on many), but was it an integral part in finding the most wanted man? I don't know the answer, but Hollywood sure does.

Overall, I would suggest it. In fact, it could be a springboard into a discussion on America's involvement in foreign affairs or whether torture is a permissible means to gather intelligence.

Film: Breaking Dawn Part II

I have never read the books so I therefore like each movie. My thoughts on this one in particular, it's good. The film moves quickly and has less of a love story. I am actually sad to see the Cullens go, I like each one of them.

Overall, this movie offers some nice closure to a pretty good series.

Film: Ocean's Twelve

Pretty good movie. My wife thought it was somewhat slow moving. Interesting to me and kept me thinking. I wouldn't watch it again but I would have others watch it.

Song - Home (Phillip Phillips)

So glad I don't waste my time watching American Idol. However, apparently this artist was on that show - I would have watched it for him. Very catchy song - just has something about it. You don't need to explain it, just hear it and dig it. Probably have already heard it before.

Keep rocking Phillip Phillips

Film - Lockout

Another that passed expectations. We thought it was going to be a lot of blood a guts, nowhere near.  This movie had some very funny lines and it moved quickly. Snow, played by Guy Pearce is a character you'll love. He is quick witted and knows how to fight.

Overall, it's a mystery sci-fi action flick.

Wine - Apothic Red

Apothic Red

Purchased a bottle from local Liquor Store for about $10. Best looking bottle they had...

Apothic, cool sounding name and a decent tasting fluid. Not a bad deal at its cost. I would compare it to Rex Goliath Cab and Gnarly Head Cab. Would I buy it again? Yes, but it would not be my first choice.

Film - Old Dogs

I am not going to lie, my expectations for this were pretty low. However, the movie completely surprised me - it was funny! John Travolta and Robbin Williams do a great job together. Think of them as an age appropriate comedy duo similar to Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

My daughter suggested the movie and now I am suggesting it to the world.

Wine - the girls in the vineyard

Cabernet Sauvignon

Purchased a bottle from Hy-Vee for about $11.

From the name it would suggest to be a man's best friend, right? Well, not quite. I don't have many details because after the first sip I made it into a mediocre sangria. Maybe it was the bottle but, it had a stale taste, very acidic flavor.

I would suggest to stay away from this bottle.
