Film: The Way Back

A solid film of an extraordinary journey. This shares many similarities with Cool Hand Luke and The Great Escape. This film is packed with good actors, and I would suggest watching it.

Film: Jingle All The Way

Wow, this film surprised me. It was much better than I was expecting. I am left wondering why I didn't see this when I was growing up. This has many hints that Santa does not exist and a lot of sexual references, so keep that in mind. If you are looking for a 1990's adventure, rent it!

Film: The Holiday

I have one word for you: predictable. Was this film predictable, more than likely it was. Why don't I know, because we turned it off about 1/3 of the way through. Sorry Cameron, even the other stars could save it. Add it to your X-Mas Watch List, just don't invite me over.

Film: The Family Stone

Again, this can be added to you Holiday Watch List, but there are many that are better. I did like the actors, except Sara Jessica Parker. However, she did a fine job in this one. Watch it, you may like it.

Film: The Ice Harvest

A decent movie to add to the Holiday movie viewing list. A bit long, but it has a creative plot and story line. Would I watch it again, maybe.

Film: The Promised Land

Nice work Matt Damon. Great movie and an even better message.

Film: The Kingdom

Nice combination of mystery and action. Sure to capture everyone's attention. Jamie Foxx has a solid performance protecting America, no wonder he later became The President.

Film: Gangster Squad

I am not 15 anymore, so blood and guts on the big screen do nothing for me. Therefore, I rejoiced that the rest of the movie did not progress like the opening scene. It wasn't that gross, I just thought it may lay the groundwork for a nasty film. The acting was superb, and I was surely advise you to watch it.

Film: Deception

An unexpected hit in my books. If you like The Game and The Prestige, then this is a good choice to rent.

Film: The Aviator

Leonardo DiCaprio delivers the cargo in this one. Great film and a nice portrait into the life of Howard Hughes. The level to which Mr. Hughes had OCD is remarkable. Great film.

Film: The Truman Show

If you haven't seen this, then have you been living underneath a rock? No hard feelings, I just saw it for the first time the other week and boy is it a spectacular film. Jim Carrey and company knock it out of the park! On a side note, since its release apparently there is a specific type of delusion that individuals may acquire based on this films premise... Go and rent or re-rent this film as it will leave you with a smile on your face.

Film: The Internship

Who doesn't enjoy Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson together? As I recall, there were some pretty dorky aspects to this film, so it's perfect if you dig that stuff. Go ahead and google it!

Film: The Heat

A classic example of low expectations which turn out to be incredibly wrong. I always find Ms. McCarthy to be a tad abrasive, and she doesn't fail to deliver. However, she is a good actress and she complimented Ms. Bullock quite nicely. It's fun, watch it!

Film: Now You See Me

I wasn't expecting much, but I was delivered a solid film. Acting is spot on and it's a film that takes many twists and turns. Check it out!

Film: The Bling Ring

We like films that are based off real life events. The truth behind a film makes the story believable which is an important factor. The Bling Ring definitely delivers in the truth portion. Regardless, this is a pretty good film. Maybe more for younger folk, but enjoyable. 

Film: White House Down

Fun film that goes by quickly. Maybe a touch non-believable, but overall very entertaining. Foxx and Tatum go very well together, like black and white. If you want to watch something, choose this, it's fun.

Film: After Earth

This film, was... nowhere near as cool as the poster for it. Sorry Smiths, but don't quit your day job, lol.

Film: Oblivion

I am a sucker for sci-fi, and this surely sucked me in. Had us thinking about it right down to the wire, and then even after the movie ended. My favorite Tom Cruise film in a while!

Film: Killing Season

Not a bad film. Is an action thriller, but as I recall it had a bit of comic relief. These pair make a good couple.

Film: Children of Men

Back from a long hiatus! This film was good, but it didn't live up to our expectations. Very cool concept, but not too awfully exciting.

Film: Pain & Gain

This film was a total surprise! I don't watch previews so I had no idea what it was going to be about, and I was deeply impressed. I have already suggested this film to three people. Only thing I am going to say is don't eat the Rock's BBQ. Crazy film, surprising this was based on a true story.

Film: Inception

What can I say? This film was solid. Not a great film, but surely up there. Had some components to it that have never been done, nor have I ever thought about. If you appreciate mystery or science fiction, then this is right down you alley.

Film: Admission

This film was something I was not looking forward to. I turned out to have the right view point, this film dragged on and lacked a lot. What did it lack, not exactly sure. All I know is that I wouldn't not recommend it. Acting was good, but it failed to make me laugh and it failed to make me think about something bigger than the film.

Film: At Any Price

Not sure if we had higher hopes for this, but I was not too impressed with the overall movie. Don't get me wrong, acting is solid and I really got into it. The movie didn't really do much for me. Funny thing is, we've been waiting for this for a while as the film was partly shot in our home town...

Film: Definetly Maybe

This wasn't too bad. I'd label it a bit of a romantic mystery. A decent movie that would be enjoyed by many.

Film: Avengers

This film was much better than I had expected. It was funny and exciting all wrapped together. I think the superheroes together are better than alone - even when it comes to a movie.

Movie: Lone Ranger

A very slow moving movie. We didn't like it and I wouldn't think you would either.

Movie: 2 Guns

This was a fun action filled movie. Not the best, but it did have some very funny lines. Not to mention a pretty good mystery as well.

Film: Takers

This movie was better than what I was expecting. I like how the film is set up, but it peaks a bit earlier than it should. The first 2/3s is much better than the latter 1/3.

Film: Middle Men

Not knowing what to expect except for an awesome cover. This movie was a wonderful surprise! Rent it for sure, not too explicit either. ENJOY!

Film: Scott Pilgrim VS. The World

Hmmm...I was expecting better things. It seems like many people loved this film. We were kind of so/so for it. We actually didn't finish it all, think we got to the second person who Scott had to defeat. I believe this began as a comic, that does explain some things...

Film: Playing for Keeps

This is a good funny soccer film, but don't get it for your young athletes who are having a sleepover. Obviously a good cast, and it's surely worth a rent.

Film: Identity Thief

This film had a lot of potential. Wasn't bad, but just dragged on.......... I would recommend it, if you want a trashy/comedy. Has a decent point, but it takes a long time to get to. At least that's what we thought.

Movie: World War Z

 If you haven't seen it, see it! This movie is not stop action, very little down time. However, there it is not your typical gory zombie movie - very clean and well done. One doesn't get overwhelmed by the grizzly details. Some may take offense to it, but if you have an imagination and you can get into a plot, then you find no fault with the perception of this director's zombie apocalypse. Well done to everyone who had a part of WWZ!

Film: Run Fat Boy Run

Not a bad movie! Has some very funny parts and is overall a good rental. We like Simon Pegg, and he does not let you down.

Film: A Good Day to Die Hard

After seeing the first three Die Hard films, if someone would have told me there would be two more, I would have said: "Yippee ki yay muthaf....!" Now, "Oh please no!"

Film: Wasted on the Young

There was not one adult in the entire film and I believe that theme was maintained throughout the film's creation. I am being a little harsh... However, the film was less than good.

Film: Side Effects

This is a very nice film...unless you watch these types to see Mr. Tatum without a shirt... The film takes some nice twists along the way.

Film: The Great and Powerful OZ

This film was excellent. It began a bit slow but then picked up full steam ahead. It's obviously very fun and entertaining to have seen The Wizard of OZ prior to this movie, the first provides an individual with a better back ground knowledge.

Film: The Cold Light of Day

This film is not good. Bruce Willis has a small role and the whole plot has been done before...much better to boot. Do not waste your time or money.

Film: Hardball

This was made some time ago, but it's still a very good one! I enjoyed it and the time flew. The story is a keeper, in addition Keany and the Kekambus are tough to beat!

Film: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

A very nice sequel! Again, on par with the first Narnia. Not much more to say, than looking forward to the third movie comes out our seeing it if it has come out.

Film: The Chonicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

This was a much better movie than I thought it was going to be. The children are very solid actors and the plot moves a perfect speed. A great fantasy that kids and adults can share together. I would not put this film on the level of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, but it's up there. On a side note, my family has mentioned that the books are a great read.

Movie: The Purge

I had very high hopes for this movie. I waited a few months since first seeing the previews. I thought it looked interesting and innovative. The movie was anything but... I believe they could have done so much more and set the whole night up a bit more. Overall, don't waste your time unless you can borrow it from a friend. We spent way too much on this!

Film: Broken City

OK, we like Mark Wahlberg, and we thought he did a job acting in this flick. We also like Russel Crowe and his acting. However, the movie...was less than mediocre. Picture a long boring mystery with a bit of action and violence. Don't waste your time, bypass.

Film: Iron Man

Not sure how this received all the hype it received... Overall, it's a funny movie with some action. However, it could be a bit shorter and to the point. Not bad, but not dying to see the remaining 2 Iron Man films.

Film: Code Name: The Cleaner

This was actually a pretty good movie. Had some really good parts. It's a perfect comedy/mystery/action theme without being redundant! Go rent it, you will not be disapointed.

Movie: epic

This is a partially cute movie, but I would suggest to not waste your time. Really don't have much to say about it...reminded me of a B movie but an animated B movie, maybe a C movie.

Film: High Crimes

film was pretty good - mystery/suspense all the way. On a side note, I don't think Morgan Freeman has aged since The Shawshank Redemption. I know this is an older film but the guy always looks the same - great!

Film: Sideways

This film seemed OK, but we turned it off. I'd be interested in seeing how it ended, maybe I will rent it again.
